Awesome Athletics

What a wonderful day we have had jumping, throwing and running! We tried our best and showed fabulous sportsmanship! 

Saints and Inspiring People....in class we talked about people in our lives who show the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives and inspire us to be more like them. We are painting their portraits and writing descriptions about them. By doing this we are working on RE, Art and Writing all at the same time.

Money, Money, Money!

We are learning about money.  We worked together to solve word problems about money.  

We are learning the values of coins.  We need to be able to count up in 10's and 100's. 

Fantastic New Resources!!! Thanks to the Kids Crusaders we have some exciting new reading resources in Rm 2. Thanks so much we love them.

Writing Time...in Rm 2 we are working in groups to write Information reports about elephants. We have learnt so many cool things! Did you know an elephant has over 40,000 muscles in their trunk!

Super Writing

Maths Bingo.

Rm 2 had a fun maths lesson on Monday when Israel brought in a game of bingo. This game reinforced our Number Identification and Listening skills. 

Reading Skills

During our reading time we are able to do a range of activities that contribute to our reading skills. 

Fitness in Room 2

We are trying to improve our skipping skills. Those of us that have mastered this are now trying to skip in time to music.

Book Week!

The Clever Tortoise.

We read the story The Clever Tortoise by Gerald Rose.  This inspired us to create our own tortoises.  Mrs Easton gave us the outline and we carefully cut around them then weaved our special paper through.

Enlighten Me "teach us something we don't know."

In Rm 2 we are learning about Volcanoes. As part of this investigation we have been experimenting and making our own eruptions. This week we used Vinegar, baking soda and red food colouring...look what happened!

How Things Work.

We have been learning about the uses and purposes of different types of hats. Then we constructed our own.

Inquiry

Our topic is Enlighten Me about Science. We are learning what things do and how they work. First we made an observational drawing and labelled the parts. Next week we are going to make our own hats. 

Geometry

This week in Room 2 we are learning about 3D shapes. We tried to make a cuboid with straws and blutak. It was very hard but we know that it has 12 sides and 8 corners. 

Anzac Day Exploration and Creation

Room 2 celebrated Anzac Day with discovery day activities including making poppies and Anzac biscuits. 

Numeracy

We are using games and activities to help us with our numeracy skills.

Recounts

This week we blew Bubbles...then we wrote all about experiences. We discussed what bubbles looked like and felt like. We came up with amazing descriptions like "it felt like a water grenade bursting on my arm".
